Who Was Mr. Anson Nixon?

Mr.  Anson B. Nixon was a longtime Kennett Square resident and a Township Supervisor for many years.  In additional to Township Supervisor he was also the Chairman of the Regional Landfill Authority (precursor to Southeastern Chester County Refuse Authority or SECCRA)  as well as the Chairman of Hercules, Inc.,  a chemical company located in Wilmington, De. and since dissolved.  The landfill which has been closed since 1978  is now home to the Tino Lito Soccer fields.  Mr. Nixon’s dream became a reality when on June 12, 1993 Anson B. Nixon Park was open for use for simple, passive recreation.
